Frequently Asked Questions

  • I don't wan't to buy The Word Chase, until I've tried it. Is there a FREE version?

Yes! We have a FREE version out to let you try our game out. It's the same game, same play.

  • What's the difference between the $1.99 version and the FREE version?

The FREE version has two levels of play, the $1.99 version has seven levels of play, allowing for much higher scores.  The $1.99 version will also allow you to choose your preferred word lengths and start each game with random words. Other than that, it's the same game.

  • How do you determine what makes a easy, medium or a hard game in your difficulty setting?

It's by how many possible ways you can change the initial words you're given.  Just a few possible changes? It's a hard game.  Lots of possible changes to the word?  Easy game.

  • What words are allowed in play?

We use the TWL (Tournament Word List) used by most Scrabble players.

Plus the word "zen". I've needed to use that word several times during beta testing so I had it added to our list. What's the use in designing your own game if you can't bend the rules just a tiny bit?  Besides, I've told you I added it, so now you can play it too!

  • Can I change the length of the word when I'm playing the game?

No, once in play, the three, four or five letter word length will remain the same length the entire game.  You can choose the length of each word when setting up a new game.

  • Are there any easter eggs (hidden features) in The Word Chase?

I don't know if this counts as an easter egg or not, but you can play your own music or podcasts while playing The Word Chase. You'll still hear the game sounds at the same time too.  I listen to my podcasts while playing.

There is a small easter egg in the high score area. I'll let you find it on your own.

  • Why is there a QU piece and not just a Q piece?  I want to use words like QI, QAT, QADI, QAID, QATS, QOPH, FAQIR, QADIS, QAIDS, QANAT, QOPHS, TRANQ, FAQIRS, QABALA, QANATS, QINDAR, QINTAR, QWERTY, SHEQEL, TRANQS, QINDARS, QINTARS, QWERTYS, QINDARKA, and SHEQELIM!

Wow! Who knew you knew all those words? Actually we found the game moved along better by combining the Q and the U in our preliminary testing.

It was no end of frustration to the programmer to have two letters on one piece, but once he figured out how to make it all work, there was no going back.
